Always top notch. The owner, Tom Cost, runs one of the best hardware stores you can find anywhere. Their outdoor power equipment section is second to none. Their staff are very attentive, knowledgeable and polite. Store is always well stocked. You will find none better.

The best store ever! Wonderful service for everything that you might need. Last spring they serviced my battery operated lawn mower overnight. Currently with the pandemic, I was impressed with how well they are running the store. It is easy to get good info on the phone and then to come and pick it up. I drive from Branford, CT to shop with them. THANK YOU!!

My generator broke down during a snow storm and I called them 20 mins before they closed to see if they had the gasket I needed. They did…. And I was an hour away. The nice gentleman on the phone was able to take payment over the phone and bagged the gasket up and places it outside for me so that I could pick up. Would’ve been easy for them to say, sorry we’re closing… but they went the extra mile to help save the day for me and my family. You don’t see this type of service much these days. 5 stars and a BIG thank you !!

I have been to the store many times over the years and several times in the last few days. Each time I went in, I was helped almost immediately and with a very pleasant attitude. On my most recent visits, the young lady in paint department (whose name is escaping me after painting for most of the day) was especially helpful in matching a Benjamin Moore color that is in my hallway. I would highly recommend this store.

Tom Cost and his crew are fantastic. I just had a few keys cut there and the gentleman was very polite and his expertise made the experience frictionless. I have purchased other items there as well such as snow blowers parts for my gas powered equipment, gas grills mulch and rental items. They are always helpful and provide that extra level of service I have come to expect

October 2025 Julia helped me out in the power equipment department by making me aware of a promotion on a Stihl backpack blower, I took her advice and bought the better model and realized it is a much stronger unit and better suits me needs. This on a busy Saturday morning while taking care of two clients at the same time. Thank you!! May 2025 Lori, who runs the paint department is a saint. She is very patient and kind, as I was trying to determine what stain and finish to use for a knife handle I made, and being on my phone, she smiled and let me know if I had any questions to ask her. So total 'customer first' as it's rude to be on your phone and be shopping. She then gave me great advice for which color and finish to go with along with good advice to 'layer, sand and re-layer' the stain to get the right depth of color. THANK YOU LORI! I'll post a picture when it's done. March 2025 Eric in the small equipment repair department has done another GREAT job for me taking care of a leaf blower repair and following up when I thought the older machine could not be fixed, I really appreciate the customer service and that I receive from TruValue, Eric has helped me on numerous occasions. Thank you! Jack made me 2 sets of keys for my office that worked perfectly on the first try. He took the time to buff the keys out for me and make a perfect match, I appreciate his efforts, on the back of he tee shirt there was a thumbs up symbol w/ the words "job well done" - nothing could be more true! thank you! Karl hooked me up in the hardware section by cutting a door sweep for me, it fit perfectly and it was a clean cut that I could not do myself w/ a hacksaw, thank you!! 2022 Thanks for getting my John Deere Zero radius running perfectly and for absolutely fixing to perfection the cut deck which I destroyed- shoot is perfect bagging perfectly height adjustment working perfectly- THANK YOU 2021 This is the second year in a row that I received great, not good, but gre

Killingworth True Value is the best hardware store in the area. I had snow blowers and generators repaired quickly. We go here for all our needs. Tom Cost is very involved in daily operations. I highly recommend this store

My wife and I had a great experience at Killingworth True Value over Memorial Day Weekend. The staff was friendly and very helpful, and it's probably the nicest hardware store we've ever been in. Special thanks to Grace, who worked with the small paint sample we brought in until she got the color matched.

I love the customer service this store offers! All you have to do to ask and an employee will go and find it for you. The icing on the cake for me is their paint department. They have a dedicated, trained employee (Lori) who can guide you through any project! Today I told Lori what I wanted to achieve with my kitchen cabinets. She explained the entire process then helped me choose supplies.
